Dorr Township Clerk Brian Boot Thursday evening was chosen to succeed Dan Weber as a member of the Dorr Township Planning Commission.
Boot, who has been clerk for the past four years, was appointed on a 4-2-1 vote of the Township Board. Trustees Patty Senneker and John Tuinstra dissented and Boot himself abstained.
Weber has resigned as the board’s liaison to the Planning Commission because he is unable to make the meetings with commitments to his job.
Tuinstra promoted Senneker for the appointment, noting her experience in real estate.
However, Supervisor Jeff Miling said Senneker would be unable to be on the commission if she defeats Miling in the primary election Aug. 2 for township supervisor. She cannot appoint herself to the job.
Weber added that Senneker also would be ineligible if she loses the primary to Miling because she couldn’t be the board’s liaison any longer, not being a board member.
Miling, Weber, Treasurer Jim Martin and Trustee John Otto voted for Boot, who will begin working with the commission at its July 19 meeting.
Robert M. Traxler, vice chairman of the commission, and John Conklin both were unanimously re-appointed to three-year terms. Conklin, who lives in New Salem, said he would serve until a replacement for him can be found.
