Bridge reconstruction at Martin U.S.-131 exit to begin Feb. 9

5BASH_TH_C_^_THURSDAYBridge reconstruction will start Monday, Feb. 9, over M-222 at the Martin exit of the U.S.-131 expressway.

Officials from the Michigan Department of Transportation have said the work is expected to be completed in time for the June 12-14 B-93 Birthday Bash just south of the exit. There have been traffic jams associated with the annual country music festivals.

MDOT officials, in a prepared press release, stated, “M-222 will be closed during bridge reconstruction and traffic will follow the posted detours on US-131 and M-89. Night-time lane closures on US-131.
“The new M-222 bridge is expected to open to traffic in time for the B-93 Birthday Bash event in June.”
However, the estimated end date for the project is listed at July 9.
