Buell hurls shutout at Tri-Unity in opener

Martin three-sport star Haylen Buell led the squad to a dominant 10-0 victory Thursday over Tri-Unity Christian, striking out 14 and allowing just four hits over five innings.

Buell also was impressive at the plate, going 3-for-3 with two doubles and a single, including a walk-off single to end the game in the fifth because of the 10-run rule.

The Clippers scored early with Chase DeGlopper’s RBI single in the first inning. They came up with big third inning, scoring seven runs, with contributions from Jaycee Ritchie, Blake Sweeting, Isaac Suk, Cody Wooten and Buell. Sweeting also stole multiple bases, and the team collectively swiped 10 bases and drew six walks.

Defensively, Suk handled 14 chances without an error.
