Craig Christopher Velting Jr., age 25, died Friday, May 15.
Born on May 3, 1995, Craig grew up in Dorr and had his dad’s sense of humor and an enormous heart. He enjoyed camping at Sandy Pines, disc golf, golfing, basketball, spending time with all his family, and Mexican food!
A 2013 graduate of Wayland High School, he was well known as a member of the Wildcat football and basketball teams.
He is survived by his parents, Craig and Monica Velting; daughter, Natalie Joy Velting; fiancee, Lydia Joy Brunsink; brother, Michael Craig Velting; aunts and uncles Cory and Michelle Velting, TJ and Teresa Avery, Rob and Rachel Kapeluch; grandparents Albert Velting and Sandy Pitcher, Anthony Kropaczewski and Cheryl Biggs, Kurt and Maria Vandermeer, Doug and Debbie Ryke; great-grandparents, Rogelio and Maria Saenz; and many great-aunts and uncles, cousins, and friends.
Burial service will be at 2 p.m, Friday, June 19, at Resurrection Cemetery, 4100 Clyde Park Ave. SW, Wyoming. In honor of Craig Jr., contributions may be made to Craig Velting Sr. A trust will be set up for his daughter, Natalie.
