The Hopkins boys’ varsity basketball team was on the losing end of an 86-30 thrashing Friday night at Grandville Calvin Christian.
The loss dropped the Vikings’ overall season record to 3-12.
The contest was just about over in the first eight minutes, as the host Squires streaked to a 25-2 advantage. They led 51-14 at intermission.
Dylan Pierce led Hopkins with six points. Mason Schaendorf had four rebounds and Josh Sapp dished out three assists.
A dozen members of the Calvin Christian squad broke into the scoring column, led by Tony DeWitte’s 16 points.
Also on Friday evening, the Hopkins girls’ team lost 57-43, the Lady Vikings’ third straight loss.
The Viking boys will play at Tri-Unity Christian Tuesday in a non-league game. The girls’ team will be at home against the same opponent.
