Car stolen in Wayland was in shooting, robbery later

The 2017 black Lincoln MKC reported stolen between midnight and 4 a.m. Dec. 16 in the 300 block of Hickory Drive in Wayland subsequently was involved in a shooting and an armed robbery elsewhere.

City police officer Mark Riemersma today asked if anyone has any information about the theft to contact the Wayland PD at 792-9366. He said anyone who has video or information about other vehicles used by the suspects can contribute to cracking the case.

Jessica Lewis told police her car was stolen while parked in her driveway. She acknowledged that she left her car unlocked, explaining, “My mind has been foggy as I am grieving the loss of my mom and I left my key fob and purse inside the car when I got home last night. They (the perpetrators) attempted to use my corporate card and debit cards at Speedway around 4 a.m.”

Lewis also said inside her car were special personal items from the funeral.
