Carbon monoxide problem emerges in storms’ wake

Emergency personnel from the Yankee Springs and Wayland fire departments Thursday responded to a report of a carbon monoxide alarm activation at a residence.
Upon checking for CO2, firefighters found a high level of carbon monoxide in the residence. Further checking the source was an automatic start generator running and the carbon monoxide was getting into the residence through the running air conditioner.
The AC was shut off, CO2 levels dropped and final fix is removing the AC from that window and putting the window back in.
A department spokesperson thus cautioned, “Make sure you have operating carbon monoxide detectors, as well as working smoke detectors.”

Carbon monoxide (mono=latin for one) has a chemical symbol of CO.

    CO(subscript) 2 is carbon dioxide.

Facebook posts do not a news story make. Multiple sources, an interview, research?
