The COVID-19 health crisis has caused the cancellation of the annual Kelloggsville Rocket Invitational on Monday, Aug. 24, affecting Wayland's cross-country teams. Athletic physicals that were scheduled for Aug. 6 have been canceled at Metro Health because of the COVID-19 health crisis. Briana Thurston, a key member of the resurgent Wayland High School girls' varsity basketball team last winter, has signed a letter of intent to continue playing hoops for Alpena Community College Lumberjacks. The Lady Wildcats came up with a 14-9 overall record in the 2019-20 season.
