‘Cats, Vikings to meet again in girls’ district opener

Wayland will play Hopkins at 6 p.m. Monday, March 2, in the opening round of the Division 2 district girls’ basketball tournament at South Christian High School.

Other teams in the tournament will include the host school, GR West Michigan Aviation Academy, Kentwood Grand River Prep and Kelloggsville.

The winner of Monday night’s opening game will take on Kelloggsville at 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 4.

Meanwhile, Martin will play in the District 4 tourney at Tri-Unity Christian, along with Byron Center Zion Christian, Wyoming Potter’s House and host Tri-Unity. The Lady Clippers, seeking their second straight district crown, will take on Tri-Unity at 5 p.m. Wednesday, March 4.

The boys’ tournament will get under way a week later at Hastings. Hopkins and Wayland will be joined by the host school, Otsego, South Christian and Plainwell. South Christian vs. Hastings, 5:30 p.m.; Otsego vs. Plainwell, 7:15 p.m. on Monday, March 9. The South Christian/Hastings winner vs. Wayland, 5:30 p.m.; Otsego/Plainwell winner vs. Hopkins, 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday, March 11. March 13: Finals, 7 p.m.

Martin will be host for the Division 4 district tourney and will welcome Covert, Holland Calvary, Hudsonville Libertas Christian, Kalamazoo Heritage Christian, Kalamazoo Phoenix and Lawrence.
