Jerry Dan Patrick and Lisa Edwards, owners of the controversial CDXX Boutique that was shut down last January in Martin Township, have opened a new store in Orangeville Township.

They opened the new CDXX Boutique Gun Lake at noon Wednesday at 11925 Marsh Road, Suite B Shelbyville, right across from Gun Lake in Barry County.
The two opened the first CDXX Boutique at the site of the Shelbyville Post Office in May 2015. They were notified by Professional Code Inspections they could be in violation of the township’s moratorium on allowing marijuana dispensaries. However, they insisted they did not dispense pot, but provided a place for legal providers and patients to exchange the product on a modified barter system.

So the township began a process of adopting a local ordinance forbidding such a business.

The Planning Commission in October refused on a 4-2-1 vote to recommend adoption of the new ordinance, but the Township Board in the first week of January adopted it nonetheless on a 5-0 vote.

Therefore, the CDXX Boutique was shut down.

When asked how they could open a similar business again after what had happened to them in downtown Shelbyville, Edwards replied, “We are not worried, we had a representative for the building owner talk with the (Orangeville) township and the (Barry County) sheriff before we even moved forward with the new location.”

She added, however, that clients must be current MMMP cardholders with a valid state ID to enter.

“Sorry friends and general public, but we’re all about the patients,” she said. “We are so excited and cannot wait to see some familiar faces!”

CDXX Boutique also will continue to sell marijuana paraphernalia.
