Celebration of Life Friday for motorcycle crash victim

A celebration of life will Friday in Grand Rapids for Johnathon Curl-Cardosa, who was killed May 1 in a motorcyle crash in Leighton Township.

“John” was born on Feb. 16, 1981, in Grand Rapids to Dianne Curl and Ray Cardosa. John loved his family and friends beyond measure. He loved to host summer cookouts and bonfires with his music playing. He will be remembered for being a hardworking, fun-loving family man. 

He was preceded in death by his mother, Dianne Curl; best friend, Dave Rowe; and brother, Jason Klapp. 

He is survived his father, Ray Martin Cardosa Sr. (Nancy); his stepfather, Andy Chapel; his grandmother, Rita Cardosa; aunt, Rebekah Cardosa;  his sister, Terri Cardosa; his brothers: Ray Cardosa Jr., Justin Cardosa, and Jeremy Klapp; his sons: Elijah Donely and Elijah Morris; grandson, Elijah James Donley; his long-term girlfriend, Melinda Morris; as well as many other aunts, uncles, cousins, and many more.

A celebration of John’s life will be hosted by his work, Grapids Irrigation, 1170 Plainfield Ave NE, at 4 p.m. Friday, May 10.  There will be a visitation and time of sharing from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at Ofield Funeral Home, 4500 Kalamazoo Ave SE, Kentwood.
