Genevieve “Gen” A. VanderWeele, 97, of Dorr, died Wednesday, Feb. 28.

Gen’s words of advice were to “keep busy.” She did that with her love for music, playing games, attending Bible study, and sewing and quilting with the Dorr Belles Quilt Group.

She is survived by her children Judy Moshier and Cindy (Dave) Cooper; grandchildren Chad (Christine) Hindley, Cary (Jenn Wilson) Hindley, Keli (Ervin) Deckard, Autumn (Brian) Abraham, Andrea (Brian) Davidson, Alecia (Kyle) Hanson; great-grandchildren Jennifer, Tyler, Katie, Zach, Allyson, Madelyn, Mason, Max, Evalyn, Olivia, Owen; great-great-grandchildren Aydren, Jayce, Brayden, Daisy; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Gen was preceded in death by her husband, Robert VanderWeele; parents Edward and Wilmina (Rozeveld) Van Dyke; three brothers Thomas, Sam, Everard; four sisters Laura, Henrietta, Eva, Christine; son-in-law, Christopher Sorrentino; and great-great-grandchild, Kayde.

Visitation with friends and relatives will take place from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, March 3, at Kubiak-Cook Funeral Home, 4330 18th St., Dorr. A celebration of Gen’s life will commence 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 4, with visitation one hour prior, at Dorr Christian Reformed Church, 420 18th St. Interment will be at Ft. Custer National Cemetery.

In honor of Gen’s request and in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Bible Broadcasting Network (BBN).
