Shelly Kibby, wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend, died Sunday, Nov. 14, after a five month battle with brain cancer.
Shelly drove bus for Hopkins Public Schools for 15 years and spent her summers working at Beard’s produce. Many summer weekends were spent camping in Irons, MI with several of their dear friends. Fishing was always on the agenda while there, and there was always a competition of who got “The Big One.”
Shelly married her high school sweetheart, Jim Kibby, in 1983. They recently celebrated their 38th wedding anniversary. She is survived by her husband and two sons James Kibby (Courtney) and Dana Kibby (Chy). Shelly’s pride and joy were her grandsons, Greyson and Xander; granddaughters Cadence and Madisyn.
Shelly is also survived by her parents Ronald and Margaret Priest; sisters Laurie Aspeleiter (Dean) and Leaann Thomas (Lloyd); brother-in-law, Brad Kibby (Doris); and sister-in-law, Brenda Kibby; numerous nieces and nephews, a great-niece, many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
At this time there will no formal ceremony. Shelly will be cremated, and a celebration of her life will be held at a later time. If you feel inclined, in lieu of flowers, consider making a donation to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Shelly’s light shone fierce and bright. She was always ready to stand up for what she believed in, and was a champion for her family. I am thankful I am able to call her my friend, she has left her mark on my heart.
My family sends our prayers to Shelly’s family in this difficult time. May God give you peace.
Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. Matthew 5:4
