Celebration of life June 26 for Jeanette Schwartz, 84

Jeanette “Jan” Schwartz, age 84, died Monday, June 14.

Jan retired from Wayland Union Schools as a bus driver after 15 years. She worked as a hairdresser out of her home beauty shop. Jan loved to golf, play cards, go on fishing trips, and trips up north – stopping at a few casinos on the way. She truly enjoyed her Halloween eve shenanigans.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Donald Schwartz; daughter, Kay (Don) Moore; grandson, Travis (Erica) Moore; sister, Judy Padilla; brother-in-law, Jerry (Linda) Schwartz; sister-in-law, Lois Soloman; lifelong friends Roger and Sue Holmes; many nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her son, Tim Schwartz; and many other family members.

A celebration of life will be held from 1 to 3 and 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, June 26, at Kubiak Cook Funeral Home, 312 N. Main St., Wayland.

In honor of Jan and in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Thornapple Manor.

God bless you, Jan! You drove my boys’ bus route from the day we moved to Wayland until they gave up the bus for their own wheels. You spoiled all the kids with candy and your love, and we knew our kids were safe with you. Although WUS has always had the finest team of bus drivers over the years, Jan will be the woman who represents them all for us with her playfulness, professionalism, and sincere concern for all our children.
    Godspeed, Jan.
