Celebration of Life service for Benji Smith, 23, will be Friday afternoon

Benjam5647128_300x300_1in John Smith, age 23 of Wayland, died Sunday at home with his family.

Benji attended Hillside Learning and Behavior Center in Allegan, was a member of Moline Christian Reformed Church and loved his 18 years of playing Yes I Can T-Ball. Friends and family knew Benji as a spoon collector, train tracks lover, plastic container lid thief, ketchup enthusiast, and music and Delilah Show listener.

Benji is survived by his parents Randy and Cheryl Smith; his twin sister Rachael (Adam) Austin; his brothers Nate, Alex, and Henryk Smith; his grandparents: Bill and Bea Berends, Ken and Carol Smith; and other loving family.

Friends may visit with Benji’s family from 1 to 3 p.m. Friday, Jan. 1, at Corinth Reformed Church in the Chapel, where his Celebration of Life Service will be held at 3 p.m. with Pastor Jim DeZeeuw officiating. A gathering time to celebrate Benji with chocolate pudding cups and Diet Coke will follow the service.
