Celebration of Life service set for Monday for Harry Raad, 79

4561788_300x300_1Harry Raad, age 79 of Dorr, died Wednesday, June 3, after a brief battle with cancer.

Harry worked at Keeler Brass, drove truck for Spartan Stores and Keebler. He became a master carpenter and worked for Bill Schaendorf and Eastbrook Builders.

His passion in life was farming; he started on his father’s farm in Dorr on 140th Avenue as a boy. Harry loved woodworking and antique tractor pulling with many of his friends at Foxfire Pullers. He also enjoyed donating his time to Project Hope and Friendship Christian Reformed Church.

Harry is survived by his wife Ann; children: Joyce (Patrick) Burrows, Christine (Tim) Taylor, Samuel (Penny) Johnston, Kathy Linton, Karen (Mike) Gigowski, Carmen (Shawn) Kelley; 20 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Casper and Gertrude, first wife Nancy, infant son Wayne, all his brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles and grandson Tommy.

Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, June 7, at Kubiak-Cook Funeral Home, Dorr. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 8, with an hour of visitation prior to the service, all at Friendship Christian Reformed Church with Pastor Cal Compagner officiating. Interment will follow at Dorr Cemetery.
