Celebration of life set for former local letter carrier

Renee Marie Chachulski, age 59 of Dorr, died at her home Tuesday, March 8, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Renee was a mail carrier for the Wayland Post Office for more than 25 years. She absolutely loved her job, especially all of her customers with whom she built many relationships over the years. Renee will be remembered as an extremely generous and giving person.

She is survived by her three children Stephen (Michele) Chachulski, Elaine (Jon) Hindenach, Emily (Matt) Rodenbeck; five grandchildren Jade, Eila, Kian, Austin, Elon; mother, Lois Blain; six siblings; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Lyle Blain II.

A celebration of life will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, March 26, at the Union Pavilion at Railside, 2500 76th St. SW, Byron Center, MI 49315.

    I remember her big postal hat and big smile. She saved my mom’s life by knowing her costumer’s habits. My mom did not get her mail out of the box and she knew that was strange and called her friend and postal worker Mary Dandrow, who called me. My mom was in bad shape, but lived another four years because of Mary and Renee, whom I called the “Hilliards Polacks.”
