Celebration of life will be Nov. 17 for Gun Lake woman

Louise M. Hurdelbrink, age 90, of Plainwell (Gun Lake), died Tuesday, Oct. 8. Louise was born July 18, 1934, in Kalamazoo, to Louis and Ruth (Cheney) Stickel.

On April 28, 1956, she married Richard K. Hurdelbrink and lived in the Gun Lake/Orangeville area for the past 68 years. Louise and Richard traveled throughout the years, and at one point lived part-time in Pine Island, Fla. Louise also worked many years at DeNooyer Chevrolet of Kalamazoo, as a phone operator and within the accounting office.

She really enjoyed her grandchildren and making time for everyone, especially during the holidays. She loved canning and sharing her famous pickles, strawberry jam and zucchini bread. She also enjoyed the yearly Christmas shopping and summer Shipshewana trips with her daughters, granddaughter and niece. Louise enjoyed crocheting, reading a good book, or watching a good football game.

Louise is survived by her husband, as well as her three children, Sherry (Doug) DePoy of South Bend, Indiana, Lorie (Alan) Marcott of Wayland, Michigan, and Rick (Tracey) Hurdelbrink of Kalamazoo, ; nine grandchildren, Steven (Jennifer) DePoy, Michael (Maggie) DePoy, Jackie (Gordy Bush) Martin, Quinten Marcott, Colin Marcott, Jessica (Jacob) Lewis, Jennifer (Tim) Lieber, Abbie (Brad) Lietzke, and Whitney Reed; eight great-grandchildren; and a special niece, Debra Vallier and nephew, Louis (Debra) Vallier.\

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her sister, Margaret Vallier.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 17, at the Orangeville Township Hall.
