Wendy Winger celebration of life delayed until 2022

Wendy Lynn Winger, age 53, died Saturday, Oct. 9.

A 1986 graduate of Wayland High School, Wendy managed the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital, where she was employed for 33 years. She started her career as a pediatric nurse.

She leaves a legacy of tireless devotion and passion for the staff, patients and their families. Wendy received her BSN from Calvin College in 1990. She earned her master’s degree in 2021 from Davenport University, while undergoing chemotherapy. Wendy will be mostly remembered for her sass, generosity, fearlessness, strength in adversity, and unwavering love and support for her family and friends.

She is survived by her mother, Linda; her brothers Brent (Sue) and Rex (Missy); and her nieces and nephews, Taylor, Morgan, Elijah, Macey, Oliver, Molly and Elliot. Additionally, close friends were Beth and Howard Hilton and their children Noah, Jonah, Lydia, and Simon.

She was preceded in death by her beloved father, Ron.

The family plans to have a private graveside service. A celebration of life will be held July 2, 2022; more details will be provided on “Wendy Winger’s Celebration of Life” Facebook page. All are welcome to attend.
