Chanlyn Commons, daughter of Carl and Michelle Commons, has been named the 2018 Wayland High School DAR Good Citizen.
Nine Allegan County high school seniors were selected to receive Daughters of the American Revolution Good Citizen recognition this year. Students are nominated by local school districts for the annual award, which is given to youths who best exemplify the characteristics of dependability, service, leadership and patriotism.
Commons is a Student Council member, National Honor Society board member, member of PALS and WAHOOS. She is the varsity softball captain, receiving All-State honors and has been on the varsity for four years. She played volleyball for three years and golf for one year. She received the Student of the Year award from Student Council and has a 4.1 grade point average.
She plans to attend Ferris State University Honors Program to study pharmacy.
