The Wayland City Council Tuesday night agreed to pay $45,250 in engineering costs for the resurfacing project next year for East Sycamore Street.
The engineer will be the firm of Wightman & Associates of Grand Rapids and the work is expected to begin next spring. Bids for the work will be let this winter in hopes to get lower prices.
The project will include curb and gutter similar to what was done a year ago to Hanlon Court. City officials indicated they’ve getting good reports from residents on Hanlon Court, which is just one block north of Sycamore.
City Manager Mike Selden also told the City Council the street will have new sidewalks on both the north and south sides.
Hope it turns out better than West Sycamore did.
