City Council honors Sgt. Mark Rookus for 29 years of service

A plaque was presented Monday eveniIMG_0963ng by Mayor Tim Bala (right) to Sgt. Mark Rookus, thanking him for his 29 years of service on the Wayland Police Department. Rookus, a 1979 graduate of Wayland High School who received police training at Kalamazoo Valley Community College, served the Wayland school district as public safety officer before coming on board in 1987 and he was promoted to sergeant in 2012. His retirement was effective June 30. Shown with Rookus and Bala is City Clerk Michelle Herman.
