Crews continue work on west side water main break

City officials say work is continuing on the water main break that was reported Friday near the intersection of West Superior and Reno Drive,
City Manager Josh Eggleston said, “The water main break is a work in progress. The boil (water) advisory has been lifted. We are determining the full scope of repair so that the city doesn’t repair the hole and have it collapse later.”
The break affected West Superior west from Salvino’s to the Speedway gas station in Wayland. Crews have been working to correct the problem.

In other business at Monday night’s meeting, the council:
• Approved participation in West Michigan Trails and Greenways interurban Committee.
• Approved a temporary easement request from Consumers Energy for maintenance of the electrical substation on the old water tower property off West Sycamore.
The cost for Consumers would be $1,000 per parcel and the easement would be in perpetuity. The request had been tabled for two months over several concerns.
