The Wayland Department of Public Works facility will be getting some renovations done by city workers this winter.
The City Council Monday night approved a request from DPW Director Cole Lutz to spend up to $15,000 to renovate and expand the interior. He said most of the work would involve the break room and bathroom.
Lutz said all the work will be done in-house, which will save the city a lot of money. The workers will do their tasks with no extra compensation.
“We have enough guys with experience with plumbing and other areas,” he told City Council members.
The department has about $200,000 set aside in its budget, so the city won’t have to dip into the fund balance coffers.
Lutz, after he was given the green light, said work would start Tuesday morning.
