City pays out $8,500 in insurance opt-out settlement

The Wayland City Council Monday night approved a memorandum of understanding to resolve a grievance filed by an officer with the Police Department.

The officer, who was not identified, will receive payment of $8,500 per year as part of his opting put of the city’s health insurance program. He insisted in his grievance that he was underpaid.

City Manager Joshua Eggleston said said the monetary figure was reached because, “The goal was to mitigate future payment requests.”
