The Wayland City Council Tuesday night voted to renew its annual lease with the American Legion for use of the parking lots beside and behind House Chiropractic on East Superior Street.

Interim City Manager Larry Nielsen said back payments of just under $2,400 for fiscal year 2015-16 and of just under $2,500 for 2016-17 were included in the agreement and the check will be on the agenda for approval at the Jan. 15 council meeting.

In other business in a rather lean agenda on a Tuesday night rather than Monday because of the New Year holiday, the council:

• Approves authorizing R.W. Baird to act as an agent to seek bid on refinancing bonds for capital improvements. The current bonds are with U.S. Bank and 4 1/2% to 5%. Baird is expected to seek bids from between 34 and 35 parties.

• Acknowledged that the issue of bow hunting in residential areas of the city will be taken up at the Jan. 15 meeting. A budget committee meeting will take place before the regular meeting.
