Don Zimmerman, volunteer and genealogist from the 3rd Michigan Volunteer Infantry Co. F, explains to the students how Allegan County was involved in the Civil War. Wayland Middle School eighth-graders had a living history lesson Friday with a visit from Zimmerman and infantry for re-enactments.  Students learned what role people from Allegan County played in the Civil war and about the customs of dress and everyday life during the era.
