Martin’s volleyball season ended Wednesday evening in the district tournament semifinals on it home court.

Visiting Climax-Scotts swept the Clippers in three sets, 25-16, 25-8 and 26-24 to earn a berth in the Division 4 tournament finals at Martin at 6:30 Thursday night against Colon.

The Lady Clippers just could not get things going in the first two sets, but they came alive in the third, thanks to efforts by the determined Warner sisters, Jaclyn Hildebrand and Faith Guritz, who stepped up with dynamic volleys and assists.

Martin led 11-4 in the early part of the third set and things looked promising, but the Panthers responded in a big way and brought a 12-12 tie. First-year Coach Logan Thiel then called a timeout and spoke encouragement to the beleaguered Lady Clippers.
