The Martin boys’ varsity cross-country team finally was able to compete in a meet Saturday at the Fenn Valley Winery near Fennville.

The Clippers finished second to Allegan. Also competing were host Fennville and River Valley.

Martin had endured an early season layoff caused by weather and the Coronavirus.

Leading the Clipper boys was Carsen Young, who finioshed third in 17:08, a five-kilometer school record and personal best time; Kyle Pallett, 11th, 19:40; Eli Dykstra, 13th, 20:08; James Blackburn, 14th, 20:08, and Travis Marsman, 25th, 22:08, a personal best by by 1:36) and Malakai Vanvolkinburg (23:47) – beginning PR.
For the girls’ varsity Ellie Young was 12th (23:49), PR; Zoie Tuinstra – 17th (25:33) Chloe Billington – 19th (26:40) Beginning PR and Amy Harris – 28th (34:51). The Lady Clippers did not register a team score because they did not field the minimum of five runners.
