The Martin High School Concert Band earned an Overall Division 2 (excellent) eating for its performance and a Division 1 (superior) rating for sight reading at the Michigan High School Band and Orchestra Association solo and ensemble festival at Grandville High School.
Band Director Noah Miller said, “While it is hard to feel like we missed out on a Division 1 rating overall, we are proud of the performance that we put on, and still extremely happy to be walking away having earned a medal.
“The judges complimented the energy and passion that was put behind our music. They recognize that we have a strong, developing tone, which is exactly right given that 50% of the concert band are freshmen.
“We know what we need to improve on, and we are excited to dig deep and improve just like we always have.”
