The Delton-Martin combined golf team, under new coach Jim Hogoboom, include three Martin members among its top six.

The Panthers-Clippers squad is off to a fine start this season with three dual match victories and a fourth-place finish Tuesday in the first Southwest Athletc Conference jamboree loaded with state-ranked opponents.
The Martin golfers are seniors Alejandro (Jandro) Guevara and Damian LaFountain and freshmen Javier Guevara, Tom Mason and Jacob Seiser. The freshmen have been rotating up and down these first matches. Jandro and Javie are sons of Wayland Pine Street Elementary teacher Laura Foster.
Tuesday’s jamboree was held at Olde Mill. DK-Martin placed fourth after Kalamazoo Hackett, Kalamazoo Christian and Schoolcraft, all of whom are ranked in the state Class C poll.

In the team’s first match of the season April 10, DK-Martin beat Comstock 185-231 at Mullenhurst.

Jandro Guevara recorded the lowest nine-hole score with a 43 (low score) and LaFountain also checked in with a 43.
Jandro had the lowest total with a 44 Wednesday, April 12, in a 203-216 victory over Marcellus. LaFountain came in with a 45.
Jandro turned in his best score Monday against Maple Valley by carding a 40 and LaFountain had a 43. Javie’s 50 was his best, but it didn’t figure in the scoring. The DK-Martin group prevailed 177-224.
