Clippers swept in doubleheader against Bloomingdale

The Martin baseball team saw its season record fall to 4-14 by losing a doubleheader to Bloomingdale 10-2 and 12-5,

Martin is 0-7 in the Southwest Athletic Conference’s Central Division.

Martin garnered eights hits and scored single runs m the first and seventh innings in the first game.

Jacob Robinson started and took the loss, going 3 1/3 innings. He gave up four hits and three runs. He walked only one and struck out four. He left in the fourth inning with a rising pitch count.

The Clippers’ first inning tally came on a single by Zeke Dillenbeck and a double by Robinson, In the seventh. Travis Thome doubled and scored on a single by Dillenbeck.

In the second game, Martin scored four times in the third inning and once in the fourth.

Thome led off the third with a single and stole second base. Cayden Curry followed with a single. Dillenbeck singled and Robinson hit his second double of the day He scored on a single by Ethan Gorton, The Clippers added a run in the fourth when Curry was hit by a pitch, stole second and scored on an error,

Dillenbeck started on the mound and took the loss. He pitched four innings, giving up eight hits and eiqht runs. He walked only one and struck out five.

Martin will travel to Lake Michigan Catholic Thursday to close out the regular season and is scheduled to play Eau Claire in the Pre-District at Lawrence next Tuesday, May 30.
