Cody Pogodzinski’s funeral will be held Friday, Dec. 29

Cody Allen Pogodzinkski, 33, died Friday, Dec. 22. He was born on June 13, 1990, to Bryan and Beverly Pogodzinski in Heerlan, Netherlands.

Cody was a family man. He loved his people fiercely; both his given family, and his chosen family. He rarely missed a Michigan State or Detroit Lions football game, or a Detroit Tigers game. Cody was an avid baseball and fast-pitch softball player and always enjoyed a good round of golf. He spent many years on a local club softball team.

Cody brought life to every room he walked in to, and was quick with a joke or to lighten any mood. Cody took pride in his work, and gave his all to everything he did. For the past 14 years, he worked for Great Lakes Superior Walls as their CAD manager.

On May 20, 2017, Cody married Nikki Tubergen. In April of 2019, they welcomed their little girl, Charlotte (Charlie), whom Cody adored.

He is survived by his wife, Nicole; daughter, Charlie; parents Bryan and Beverly; sister, Ashley; grandfather, Russell Pogodzinski; parents-in-law Wendy and Dave Gray, and Todd Tubergen; grandmother-in-law, Jan Hibma; sisters-in-law, Becky (Kris) Hurt and Karlee Gray and brother-in-law, Danny Tubergen; five nieces and nephews; many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by grandparents Hannah Pogodzinski and Larry Hibma.

Visitation will take place Thursday, Dec. 27, from noon to 2 p.m. and 4 to 7 p.m. at Kubiak-Cook Funeral Home (4330 18th Street, Dorr, with a Rosary beginning at 7 p.m. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 28, at St. Stanislaus Church (1871 136th Ave, Dorr, with a graveside committal service following.

In lieu of flowers and in remembrance of Cody, memorial contributions may be made to a college fund for Cody’s daughter, Charlie Pogodzinski, through United Bank.
