Construction on 131 slows traffic from Martin to Plainwell

The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) has US-131 both northbound and southbound lanes down to a single lane from Exit 49 to 55, from Plainwell to Martin. This situation will continue  for the next few months. For northbound US-131, the single lane starts near the Kalamazoo River Bridge, this is just north of M-89 (Plainwell/Otsego), Exit 49, and continues to Martin, Exit 55. Southbound US-131 is also down to a single lane in this same stretch from Exit 55 to Exit 49. The ramp at 106th Avenue to NB US-131 has been closed as well. Motorists may want to try a different route and travel 10th Street to avoid this section of the highway.
