Detectives from the Allegan County Sheriff’s Department have met with the Allegan County Prosecutor’s Office and charges have been filed against Corey LaValley, 34, in the deaths of a mother and her two children Tuesday at a mobile home park in Dorr Township.
A three-count warrant was authorized for three counts of open murder, one count of second degree arson and one count of felony firearm. The suspect awaits arraignment from the Allegan County Corrections Center. LaValley was expected to be arraigned Thursday afternoon in Allegan County District Court.
Detectives believe, through their investigation, that the suspect Corey LaValley went to the residence sometime Monday evening and shot the three victims. Detectives believe he then returned Tuesday morning and burned the residence with the deceased victims inside.
Killed were Debra Sheppard, 33, and her children Emma McComber, 12, and Corey LaValley Jr., 10 or 11. Both youngsters were students at Hopkins Middle School and Hopkins Elementary.
