Council to interview 3 finalists for city manager’s job

The Wayland City Council Monday night in closed session discussed a number of specific applicants for the open city manager’s position and has agreed to have open public interviews with three finalists.

Interim City Manager Larry Nielsen said, “At this time, we are only able to define them as Candidates Number 5, 10 and 17.  When the three agree to be finalists and be interviewed, their names will be released to the public.”

The position became vacant last August with the resignation of Tim McLean, who left to live with his new wife on the east side of the state.

Nielsen said 27 people applied for the city manager’s position.
