The rate of positivity in testing now is 20.5 percent, well above the 3% health officials cite as manageable and slightly less than the first week of December. All school districts now are on holiday break until Jan. 3, but health officials have indicated they are worried about more Covid spikes that can result from indoor family gatherings over Christmas and New Year’s.

In Allegan County, an estimated 79.1% of COVID-19 hospitalizations are among unvaccinated individuals.
