Courtney Baareman, formerly with Kenowa Hills Public Schools, has been selected new director for the Wayland Union Fine Arts Center.
Baareman, who has ten and a half years of experience at the Kenowa Hills Performing Arts Center as a technician and assistant director, will transition into this position here in mid-February.
She is experienced in all aspects of running a fine arts center, including lighting, sound and managing a variety of performances. She is replacing former Wayland Fine Arts Center Director Chris Teller, who resigned in December to take a position with Cornerstone Church in Caledonia.
The Wayland Union Fine Arts Center, located at Wayland Union High School in Wayland, boasts an 800- seat state of the art performance venue, a new dance studio, new cafeteria that includes a Mongolian barbecue, and a multi-use grand hall/lobby used for a serving area and other large group functions. The FAC is host for more than 100 events each year, ranging from school concerts and athletic banquets to guest performances by bands like “Wayland” and the Williams Family.
The facility is also available for rent and is often used by area companies and non-profit groups for meetings and other events.
