The fireworks display planned for Saturday evening, Sept. 5, over Gun Lake officially has been canceled.
The Gun Lake Proective Association, sponsor, issued an announcement that said, “Due to the (Michigan) DNR refusal to allow a public event permit for September and Covid 19, the fireworks scheduled for Sept. 5 have been canceled.
“THANK YOU for the firework donations!
“All funds donated for the 2020 fireworks will be held and applied exclusively for future fireworks shows.”
The fireworks originally scheduled for the Fourth of July were called off because of the Coronavirus and state restrictions, but the celebration then was postponed until Labor Day.
