Covid numbers soaring, but death stats still constant

Cases of the Covid-19 virus continue to climb in Allegan County, but the number of deaths from the disease has remained at seven since last summer.

The recent spike in reports of the Coronavirus in the county has resulted in 1,438 cases, a huge increase in the last month. There have 63 hospitalizations and more than 800 have tested positive, but recovered.

Wayland Union Schools, as of Sept. 30 is reporting that three students have tested positive for Covid this week, bring the yearly total to seven. One staff member tested positive this week, with a total of six thus far in 2020.

The number of students currently under quarantine is 64 and there are 10 staff members in that category. A total of 170 students and staff members combined have been quarantined for the year.
