Pine Street El crossing guard is sorely needed

The City of Wayland is having difficulty in providing staffing for city street crosswalks (the city provides crossing guards for local streets) that lead to Pine Street Elementary.

Pine Street staff has covered on many occasions and can’t always be available due to parent/child needs during drop-off and pick-up times.

School and city officials stated on Facebook, “Please consider this opportunity to provide a safe crossing for students. Apply at the City of Wayland webpage if looking for a longterm, paid commitment (pay is $16 per hour and $10 per half hour).

“Also, if willing to volunteer to cover a post for a certain day of the week, or a week or two, speak to Principal Robyn Robinson until the city hires someone.”
