I remember this recipe as family classic and favorite that was both delicious and filling, one of many original recipes that came from my great aunt.
You can always tell the family favorites by how many spots and creases are on those cards!
Ingredients:
2 tablespoons butter
2 cups sugar
2 eggs
2 teaspoons soda
1 cup dates cut up
1 cup of nuts chopped
4 cups flour
1 teaspoon salt
2 cups boiling water
1 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)
Pour boiling water over date and nut mixture. Add sugar and butter to this mixture. Let cool.Whisk flour, salt and cinnamon into bowl and add date mixture. Then add beaten eggs and beat well.
Put into round corn cans half full (I use larger muffin tins) and bake for 45 minutes at 350 degrees. Enjoy!
