Holli McPherson, executive director, of the Wayland Main Street/DDA program, has asked for clarification of the Main Street construction project.
“During construction, downtown parking and businesses will be open,” she said. “This construction does NOT affect downtown parking or businesses. There are detour signs that will be up at the south part of the four corners (Main and Superior) to divert through-traffic.”
Construction on South Main Street from Sycamore to 133rd Avenue will start soon (more details to come).
“This construction will last most of the summer and will be adding a middle line to this section, not widening the roads,” she added.
How can you have three lanes and still have parking??
But the on-street parking would go away from Sycamore Street to to as far south as the city limits at 133rd Avenue?
Seems like it would at least on one side if a middle lane is added.
That stretch is busy what, twice a day for a little bit.
There is no on-street parking in that stretch. It is mostly residendial; the few businesses and churches have their own off-street parking.
Eventually it will be all Tribal south of 133rd, and it’s the back way so to speak towards the casino.
Wayland seeing this as a future commercial corridor then makes sense.
Just getting the streets ready to handle it.
The tribal corridor you refer to is further west. When fully developed (25 years?) it would connect to the south end of Reno Drive, not 10th Street.
