Allegan County Sheriff’s Deputy Chase Rairigh recieved a Life Saving Award in a recent ceremony at the Allegan County Sheriff’s Department.
Rairigh was dispatched to a residence in Wayland Township in reference to a woman not breathing. He arrived and observed CPR being performed by her husband. He confirmed no pulse and was able to use his AED and a shock was administered. He began CPR and was able to regain a pulse and breathing.
EMS personnel then arrived and transported the woman to a hospital.
Sheriff Frank Baker talked about knowing and having worked with the husband, who is a retired Michigan State Police Sergeant, and said, “I am so very thankful and proud of our deputy. My old friend Sgt. Smith retired in 1992, so we go back a few years”.
The Smith family was on hand to meet with Deputy Rairigh and celebrate his award.
