The Leighton Township Board Thursday night voted not to take a pay raise for the next fiscal year.

Supervisor Steve Deer told his colleagues his research turned up the fact that the estimated cost of living increased by 0.7 percent in the first 11 months of 2015. So it’s possible the officials each could get a 1% raise.

However, the board voted 4-0, with Brian Bonnema absent, to accept the same pay as last year.

Clear Mary Lou Nieuwenhuis and Treasurer Char Troost both receive an annual salary of $25,541, Deer gets $16,234 as supervisor and Trustees Bonnema and John Hooker both make $2,857 per year.
