Despite the oppressive heat, work is progressing on South Main Street. Wayalnd City Councilman Steve Stepek, who took these pictures, said ,”Leveling courses are going in today, then sewer needs to be raised and recorded. If that can all get done over the next few days, the top course of asphalt will go in Monday. Those are all big ‘ifs’ that are weather dependent. After the top course, they’ll paint and move on to restoration work.

“Reminder that there is still local access! It’s a great opportunity to visit a local business, like 4 One 2 Distillery and their ‘Irish on Main’ event this Saturday.”

Shown in the cover photo is paving near the St. Therese Church.

The Michigan Department of Transportation is funding about half of the costs of the paving and the project to put in left turning lanes from Sycamore south to 133rd Avenue.

Just think. The paver operators are sitting on top of asphalt @ 350 degrees F, the lute workers leveling the bumps and filling holes are in contact, the roller operators are sitting on top of the asphalt. Still think your hot?
