Dorothy Hitzler of Hopkins dies just short of 99th birthday

Dorothy Mae Hitzler  (Hazen), 98, born on July 27, 1918, of Hopkins, died Saturday, July 8.

She is survived by her son Ronald Lee  Hitzler; her granddaughters Julie Hitzler, Debra Tew (Jon), and Ronna Bonga  (Daniel); her great grandchildren Carrie Vogt  (Adam), Ashley Kuiper (Kyle), Andrew Baird, Nathan Tew, Joshua Tew, Gracie Bonga, Caleb Bonga, and Keilah Bonga; and her great great grandchildren Olivia Vogt, Henry Vogt , and Carson Kuiper; and sister-in-law Crystal Ruch.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years Robert Hitzler; her parents Frank and Nora Hazen (Baker); her brothers Lloyd Hazen, Athol Hazen, Pembroke Hazen, and Alden Hazen; her sister Esther Allen; and her great granddaughter Emilee Mae Tew

Her visitation will be at Gorden Funeral Residence in Hopkins from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. with a service immediately following, led by Roger Bird. There will be a brief burial service at Maplewood Cemetery and a luncheon to follow at Hopkins Community Reformed Church.
