The Dorr Marathon gas station, owned and operated by the Fifelski family for the last 55 years, is being sold to Merle Boes Fuel Hauling.
The station, located at the corner of 142nd Avenue and 18th Street in downtown Dorr, was owned by former Dorr Township Fire Chief William Fifelski since 1969. After he died, Jeff and Bill Fifelski Jr. took over operations and continued the towing and recovery business as well.
“The family posted on Facvebook, “Today is a day filled with a mixture of emotions for our family. After years of dedicated service and countless memories, we are thrilled to announce the passing of the torch of our four-generation family-owned gas station/convenience store to Merle Boes, Inc. We will continue to operate Fifelski Towing & Recover, owned by son/nephew, Caleb Fifelski and his partner, Tony Rodriguez. Caleb and Tony will continue to carry on the Fifelski Towing legacy out of our current location.
“Since the early 1900s, our station at the four corners of Dorr has been more than just a place to refuel—it’s been a cornerstone of our community, a place where friends and neighbors have gathered, shared stories, and created lasting connections. From the early days of our great-grandparents, who first opened the station with nothing but hard work and a dream, to the wonderful legacy built by our grandparents and parents, our family has poured heart and soul into making this station a beacon of reliability and warmth.
“As we turn this new page, we are overjoyed to introduce the new family who will carry forward our legacy with passion and innovation. The team at Merle Boes, a four-generation business headquartered in Holland, will bring fresh ideas and boundless energy to our beloved establishment. Merle Boes embraces the same values of family and community that have been the foundation of our business. Their commitment to continuing the traditions we hold dear while embracing the future with open arms assures us that our station will remain a cherished part of our community for years to come.
“To our loyal customers, past and present, thank you for being a vital part of our journey. Your support and friendship have meant the world to us, and we are confident that you will continue to receive the same heartfelt service and dedication you’ve always known.
Here’s to new beginnings, cherished memories, and a future filled with promise. Please join us in celebrating this exciting transition and in welcoming Merle Boes to our community.”
