The Dorr Township Planning Commission has decided to suspend the work on the master plan process until the beginning of next year because of problems created by the Coronavirus.
Chairman Bob Wagner said he will get in touch with engineers from Williams & Works to let them know the commission will not take up work on the master plan until its December meeting, with an eye toward picking things up again in January.
“I think we should wait until the end of the year and then start over,” moved Commissioner Larry Dolegowski.
Fellow Commissioner Dan Beute chimed in, “We might get some census data by then as well.”
The commission last year agreed to examine and change, if necessary, the township’s master plan, but the COVID-19 crisis has made it difficult to have meetings.
In other business at Tuesday night’s meeting, the commission:
- Agreed to recommend approval to the Township Board of a rezoning request from Rory and Heidi Allen, 1947, 142nd Avenue from commercial to residential. The property has been zoned commercial since 1956, but its use as been as a residence for some time.
- Agreed to postpone a request for a special use permit for property on the west side of 12th Street between 142nd Avenue and Division until its September meeting.
- Scheduled a public hearing for 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 15, on missing requirements for single-family dwellings and duplexes.
Sound move to hold off on the master plan until the people can be heard.
