Dorr native Marie Stoner dies at age 99 in Tecumseh

Marie, E. Stonephoto_20160625_WM0071008_0_20160625r of Tecumseh, a native of Dorr and formerly of Kalamazoo, died Thursday June 23, at the Fieldstone Assisted Living.
Marie was born Sept. 12, 1917, in Dorr the daughter of John and Theresa (Herp) Gries. She retired after 30 years from General Motors and was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Log Cabin Quilters, and the VFW Auxiliary.
Surviving is a son, Michael Stoner; daughter, Charlene Stubbs; four grandchildren, Blake Stubbs, John Stoner, Paul Stoner, Shanna Trost; great-grandson, Jack Charles Trost; brother, Frank (Betty) Gries; sister, Kay Gries-Walsh.  Michael and Charlene attended Wayland schools.
She was preceded in death by her husband Charles Stoner in 2004; two sisters; three brothers.
Friends are being received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday June 27, at Parchment Redmond Funeral Home, where a Rosary will be recited at 7 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary Catholic Church, Kalamazoo Interment will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Grand Rapids.
